Treasury sanctions four charities in Türkiye and Indonesia over alleged Hamas financing
The U.S. Treasury sanctioned four charities in Türkiye and Indonesia that it said directly funded Hamas’ military wing and helped sustain the group’s terrorist operations.
WASHINGTON, March 12, 2026 — The U.S. Treasury on Thursday sanctioned four charities in Türkiye and Indonesia that it said were part of Hamas’ overseas financing network, accusing them of channeling support to the group’s military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control named Türkiye-based Ghazi Destek Dernegi, Hayat Yolu and the Palestinian White Hands Assistance and Solidarity Association, along with Indonesia-based Komite Nasional Untuk Rakyat Palestina. Treasury said the organizations posed as humanitarian groups while providing material support to Hamas.
Treasury said internal Hamas documents showed Ghazi Destek Dernegi supported Hamas members and construction projects benefiting the group, while Palestinian White Hands was integrated within the Hamas military wing’s security apparatus. It said KNRP coordinated with Hamas to fund and distribute material intended exclusively for Hamas fighters, and separately described Hayat Yolu as an operational headquarters and financial hub for the Muslim Brotherhood.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Hamas was exploiting sham charities to finance terrorist operations and said the department would continue targeting such networks. The action follows earlier OFAC steps against Hamas-linked charity networks on Jan. 21, 2026, and June 10, 2025.
Under the move, all property and interests in property of the designated entities in the United States or under the control of U.S. persons are blocked and must be reported to OFAC. U.S. persons generally are barred from transactions involving the designated entities, and Treasury said foreign financial institutions could also face secondary sanctions risk for significant dealings involving them.
