OFAC issues seven amended Venezuela general licenses and two new FAQs
OFAC issued seven amended Venezuela-related general licenses and two new FAQs on June 10, updating authorizations tied to oil, gas, minerals, diluents and transactions involving PDVSA.
WASHINGTON, June 10, 2026 — The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control on Wednesday issued seven amended Venezuela-related general licenses and published two new Venezuela-related frequently asked questions, marking a broad update to its licensing framework for dealings tied to the country’s energy and mining sectors.
The amended measures were General License 46C, covering certain activities involving Venezuelan-origin oil or petrochemical products; 47A, authorizing the sale of U.S.-origin diluents to Venezuela; 48B, authorizing the supply of certain items and services to Venezuela; 50B, authorizing transactions related to oil or gas sector operations in Venezuela of certain entities; 51B, authorizing certain activities involving Venezuelan-origin minerals, including gold; 52A, authorizing certain transactions involving Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.; and 54A, authorizing the supply of certain items and services for minerals operations in Venezuela.
OFAC also issued FAQs 1259 and 1260 alongside the amended licenses. The package indicates a coordinated refresh of Venezuela-related authorizations rather than a new designation action focused on Venezuela.
