Switzerland updates Belarus sanctions list, designates two companies
Switzerland amended its Belarus sanctions regime on May 21, adding two entities and updating numerous existing entries. The changes take effect on May 22 and reflect measures of EU origin.
BERN, May 21, 2026 — Switzerland updated its sanctions measures against Belarus by adding two companies to its asset-freeze list and entry restrictions framework and amending a broad set of existing listings, with the changes entering into force on May 22.
The newly listed entities are Volat-Sanjiang Joint Venture Limited Liability Company and CJSC Belarusian Oil Company. The notice says Volat-Sanjiang, a joint venture co-created by Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, produces wheeled chassis for military equipment and supports Belarus’ military and industrial complex. It says Belarusian Oil Company, also known as BNK or BelOil, is Belarus’ leading petroleum exporter and is controlled through its ownership structure by the Belarusian government.
The amendments also update dozens of existing designations covering individuals and entities already subject to financial sanctions and, for listed persons, entry and transit bans under Switzerland’s Belarus measures. The revised entries include senior Belarusian officials, security and law enforcement figures, judges, businesspeople and prison administrators, as well as companies in the defense, industrial, chemical, tire and potash sectors.
Among the entities with amended entries are Beltechexport, AGAT Electromechanical Plant OJSC, 140 Repair Plant, MZKT, Grodno Azot, Belshina and Belaruskali. The notice states the Swiss action modifies annexes 5, 13, 14 and 15 of the ordinance of March 16, 2022 on measures against Belarus.
The amendment is dated May 21 and specifies an entry into force of May 22.
