Switzerland enacts UN ISIL and Al-Qaida list amendments
Switzerland has put into effect updated U.N. sanctions list changes tied to ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida after the U.N. sanctions committee amended its list. The changes took effect in Switzerland without delay.
BERN, March 27, 2026 — Switzerland has implemented amendments to the U.N. sanctions list covering persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida.
The change follows an amendment by the U.N. sanctions committee to its list of sanctioned individuals, companies and organizations. Switzerland said its SESAM database was updated accordingly.
Under the Federal Council's March 4, 2016, ordinance on the automatic application of U.N. Security Council sanctions lists, amendments to those lists enter into force in Switzerland without delay.
