Monaco updates Libya sanctions entry for AVAX vessel
Monaco’s minister of state amended the Libya sanctions entry for AVAX, a Cameroon-flagged vessel subject to oil-related financial, port and maritime-service restrictions, in a decision dated Aug. 10.
MONACO, August 10, 2026 — Monaco updated its sanctions entry for AVAX under measures tied to the UN Libya regime, refining the information used to identify the vessel and describe the restrictions applied to it.
The entry identifies AVAX by International Maritime Organization number 9058713 and lists Cameroon as its flag state. It says the vessel was near the anchorage area of Benghazi’s old port in Libya as of April 4, 2026.
The measures prohibit loading, transporting or unloading cargo; entering ports; receiving bunkering or other vessel services; and conducting financial transactions related to oil. The entry cites provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2146, as amended and extended, as well as a July 23 decision by the UN sanctions committee and an Aug. 7 EU measure.
Decision No. 2026-91 amends Monaco’s existing international economic sanctions framework. The evidence does not specify when the amendment takes effect or which individual data fields were changed from the previous entry.
