EU renews Iran measures, removes four people
The EU Council renewed restrictive measures linked to Iran for another year and removed four people from the list, extending the regime through July 27, 2027, with changes taking effect July 28.
BRUSSELS, July 27, 2026 — The European Union extended restrictive measures addressing Iran’s military support for Russia’s war against Ukraine and activity in the Middle East and Red Sea while removing four individuals from the list.
Council Decision (CFSP) 2026/1837 renews the measures through July 27, 2027, replacing their previous July 27, 2026, expiration date. The decision enters into force July 28, the day after its publication in the EU’s Official Journal.
The regime also covers Iran’s military support to armed groups and entities in the Middle East and Red Sea region, as well as Iranian actions that undermine freedom of navigation in the Middle East.
Following a review, the Council deleted four natural-person entries. The action does not identify additions or changes to entries for entities.
For compliance teams, the renewal continues the remaining restrictions for another year, while the four deletions change the population covered by the list and may affect sanctions-screening data and list maintenance.
