OTTAWA, February 14, 2026 — Canada announced new sanctions on seven people under its Iran sanctions rules. The Canadian government said the people are linked to Iranian state bodies responsible for intimidation, violence and transnational repression.

Canada said Iran has used proxy agents and criminal networks to harass, watch and threaten critics in Europe and North America. It said those actions harm the sovereignty of other states and undermine international law and global peace and security.

The seven people named are Naji Ibrahim Sharifi Zindashti, Reza Hamidiravari, Mohammed Reza Ansari, Ali Esfanjani, Muhammed Abd Al-Razek Kanafani, Nihat Abdul Kadir Asan and Mohammed Reza Naserzadeh. Canada said they took part, directly or indirectly, in Iran-directed activities that undermine international peace, security or stability.

The sanctions mean any assets they have in Canada can be frozen. People in Canada, and Canadians abroad, are also banned from making property available to them. Listed people are also barred from entering Canada under immigration law.

With these new measures, Canada said it has now sanctioned 222 Iranian individuals and 256 Iranian entities under the Iran regulations. It said the rules were expanded in October 2022 to target serious human rights abuses and again in March 2025 to cover destabilizing activities in the Middle East and around the world.
