UK sanctions 19 Russia-linked targets, including banks and oil tankers
Britain added 19 Russia-linked individuals, companies, banks and vessels to its sanctions list, targeting financial services, military supply chains and energy exports supporting Moscow.
LONDON, August 6, 2026 — The British government imposed sanctions on 19 Russia-linked targets, including six banks, five oil and liquefied natural gas tankers, industrial suppliers and a Russian businessman.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said the additions were made under the Russia sanctions regime. The measures include asset freezes, trust-services restrictions, director disqualifications, travel restrictions and prohibitions on correspondent banking and payment processing, depending on the target.
The listed financial institutions are Ozon Bank, the Russian Export-Import Bank, Center-Invest, Realist Bank, Bank Stavr and Teleport Bank. Britain said the banks supported the Russian government by operating in the country’s strategically significant financial-services sector. UK financial institutions are barred from maintaining correspondent relationships with them or processing payments to, from or through them.
Five Russian companies, Metallkomplekt, Nikom, PromsIz, Technolux and Northern Engineering, were sanctioned over alleged involvement in supplying goods or technology linked to Russia’s war effort or operating in the energy sector. India-based Frion Ship Management was listed for allegedly supporting the transfer of the LNG tanker Arctic Express into Russian ownership and control.
Aleksander Zhdanov, the owner of Russian chemical company Siltron, was placed under an asset freeze and travel ban for allegedly supporting the government through Russia’s chemical sector.
The vessels Arctic Express, Perseas, Torvian, Asteras, Visund and Zenturo were subjected to shipping and trade restrictions. Britain said Arctic Express carried Russian LNG, while the other tankers transported Russian-origin oil or petroleum products to third countries.
The restrictions prohibit UK port access and the provision of services including chartering, brokering, crewing, technical assistance and financing for the specified ships. UK persons must freeze assets belonging to designated parties and report relevant holdings to the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation.
