UK lifts Libya sanctions on Baroque Investments
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office removed Baroque Investments Limited from the Libya sanctions regime, ending its asset freeze and director disqualification sanctions on July 17.
LONDON, July 17, 2026 — The UK removed Baroque Investments Limited from its Libya sanctions regime, ending the asset freeze and director disqualification sanctions attached to the entity's designation.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office revoked the UK designation and removed the entity from the UK Sanctions List effective July 17. The government described a revocation as removal following an official decision-making process.
Baroque Investments, based in the Isle of Man, had been designated since Dec. 31, 2020. Its designation identified the company as a subsidiary of the Libyan Investment Authority that was owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by a person involved with the former regime of Muammar Qadhafi. The director disqualification sanction was imposed April 9, 2025.
The delisted entry carried unique ID LIB0015, OFSI group ID 11770 and Isle of Man registration number 59058C. Those identifiers can help compliance teams distinguish the revoked record and update sanctions-screening data.
The action applies to Baroque Investments' UK designation. The broader Libya regime continues to include full asset freezes for various persons and a partial asset freeze for the Libyan Investment Authority and Libyan Africa Investment Portfolio.
