OFAC updates CJNG-linked resort aliases, removes Russia-related tanker from SDN List
OFAC updated the identifiers of a Mexican resort tied to the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion and removed a Vietnam-flagged tanker from its Russia-related sanctions listings.
WASHINGTON - May 8, 2026 - The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control updated the identifiers of Kovay Gardens, a Mexican timeshare resort previously designated for acting on behalf of the Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion, and deleted the vessel ASTRA from the Specially Designated Nationals List under its Russia-related sanctions authorities.
OFAC said Kovay Gardens is now using the aliases Navira Villas & Residences and Marina Oasis Beachfront Resort. The property, located in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nayarit, Mexico, had already been designated on Feb. 19, 2026, under Executive Orders 14059 and 13224, as amended, for being owned, controlled or directed by, or acting for or on behalf of, CJNG.
The agency’s May 8 action adds those aliases, along with an alternate website, to the SDN entry. OFAC linked the update to its warning about Mexican timeshare fraud and related victim resources.
In the same notice, OFAC removed ASTRA, a Vietnam-flagged chemical and oil tanker with IMO number 9273387, from the SDN List. The vessel had been listed under Ukraine- and Russia-related sanctions authorities and was linked to Sao Viet Petrol Transportation Company Limited.
